Lyda Mae Butler, 73, died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Plains Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 8, 1931, in Santa Monica, Calif., to John William and Lyda M. Ward Thomas. She was raised in Southern California and went to school there.
After living in several different states, she moved to New Mexico in 1956 and resided in the Deming and Truth or Consequences areas until she moved to Clovis in 1981. In Clovis she worked as a cashier, waitress, bartender and sales clerk at Anthony’s Department Store. She was a desk clerk at the Hotel Clovis when it closed in 1984. She then retired.
She was an active member of the Baxter-Curren Senior Citizen Center until her health failed. Her hobbies were doing ceramics, art painting and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Karen Cathey in August 2001.
Survivors include two sons, Brad Fosteson of Indianapolis; Danny Leshikar of Liberty, Mo.; three daughters, Kathy Appledorn of Indianapolis, Danna Sadler of Coalville, Utah, and Lori Haynes of Winnemucca, Nev.; a sister, Anabel Parker of Lewisville, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place.
