Hail hits Cannon

The National Weather Service reported hail in Clovis and the surrounding areas early Sunday evening.

Cannon Air Force Base received the brunt of the wet weather reporting 1 3/4 inches of golf-ball size hail and 0.30 inches of rain.

Five miles north of Clovis received an inch of hail and had wind gusts near 60 mph, the NWS reported.

Areas one mile west Pleasant Hill received nickle-sized hail, the NWS reported.

Officials with the NWS did not have official totals for Clovis, but said a trace of rain fell and some light hail.

Unofficial reports for the outlining communities of Texico and Melrose included light rain.
