Mr. Leon Gregory, 79, of Clovis, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Farwell Convalescent Center.
He was born on Nov. 15, 1924, in Clovis, to Elisha and Bessie Langham Gregory.
He had lived in Clovis most of his life. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the Pacific. He married Geneva Pearl Roberts on Dec. 22, 1943, in Lamesa, Texas. He married Virginia Posey on June 20, 1970, in Clovis. He retired from C&T Fertilizer in 1990. He had served as a school crossing guard for many years and was a member of Sandia Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; his second wife; a sister, Wanda Schryer; and a brother, Dillon Audrey Gregory
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Gregory of Euless, Texas, and Dave Posey of Clovis; three daughters, Larna Sellman of Alamogordo, Connie Burnett of Clovis and Patsy Cardoza of Palatka, Fla.; a brother, Amos Joel Gregory of Lamesa, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home.
The casket will be closed at the service.
The Rev. Hoyt Welch and Herbert Bergstrom will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers are Kelly Hartz, Jay James, W.Y. Mitchell, Bob Weber, Wayne Anderson and Homer Tankersley.
Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Sandia Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sandia Baptist Church or the Baptist Children’s Home.
