Police Blotter 5/23

Police responded to Plains Regional Medical Center about 10 p.m. Tuesday regarding a criminal sexual penetration report. Hospital staff told police a 2-year-old girl had been brought to the hospital by her mother who suspected sexual penetration by her boyfriend.

The mother told police her daughter said she had pain in her pelvic area and could not sit down due to the pain. When she tried to give her daughter a bath, her daughter became very protective of her pelvic area. The mother said she had also found nude pictures of her daughter in her boyfriend’s possession.

Police advised the mother on procedures to obtain a restraining order preventing the boyfriend from having further contact with the mother or daughter.

About 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 1800 block of Wallace where a 40-year-old male resident showed officers a picture of himself left on his front porch with a knife stuck through his face.

The man told police his ex-wife had been harassing him since their divorce and showed them a copy of a domestic violence protection order restraining his wife from harming or contacting him. Officers took a 14-inch knife and the photograph into evidence so the knife could be tested for fingerprints.

Police received a call about 1:30 a.m. Thursday reporting that a stabbing victim was being brought to Plains Regional Medical Center.

The 18-year-old male victim’s mother told police her son had been stabbed at a gas station. Hospital staff initially thought the wounds were caused by glass or a broken window but later determined they were inflicted by a knife and finally transported him to Lubbock for specialized treatment after determining the wounds had nearly pierced his lungs and kidneys.

The victim said he had been approached by a man who asked him what gang affiliation he was claiming. The victim said he denied any gang affiliation and was then attacked by the man, who he said he had never seen before.

An exploding bottle thrown from a car injured two 23-year-old men about 6 p.m. at the 2200 block of Chaparral. Police met them and a third friend at Plains Regional Medical Center; all three said an unknown person threw a bottle from a passing car which exploded, causing multiple cuts to the victims’ faces, necks, and arms.

None of the three could identify the vehicle from which the bottle was thrown or explain why they may have been targeted.
