Tascosa sweeps Clovis

AMARILLO — Amarillo Tascosa rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat Clovis 5-3 and complete a sweep of their West Texas League baseball doubleheader on Saturday.

Tascosa won the opener 13-3, ending the game in the bottom of the fifth on the league’s 10-run rule.

Daniel Casarez doubled twice in three at-bats in the nightcap, including a two-run double which put Clovis ahead 3-2 in the top of the sixth. Sean Cruse was 2-for-4 and drove in the other run.

David Root was the losing pitcher, going the distance and allowing eight hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

In the opener, Casarez was 2-for-2 and Cruce and Matt Ulibarri were both 2-for-3, while Root and Chase Denton each had a double. Luke Gray took the loss, giving up 11 runs — eight earned — and eight hits in 3 2/3 innings.
