Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
What is this new thing going on at Delta and Second Street off of Grand Avenue? How can I get involved? What are they doing that seems so interesting and fun?
Maybe you are in luck. Maybe you are a girl between the ages of 7 and 16, which makes you eligible for this Girl Scouting program. This is a special summer arts focus grant funded out of Santa Fe and absolutely free.
So maybe you are such a girl, or her parent or her grandparent or friend. What are some of the activities?
A sketching trip to Palo Duro. A gallery tour of Santa Fe. A large mural project in Clovis, place still undecided. Three dimensional work. Drama with an ENMU drama instructor. Creative journaling with an ENMU writing instructor. Studying, and studying with local artists; learning too about some, like Georgia O’Keefe, who are famous and aren’t available for comment.
If interested, you might want to get hold of Portales resident Senora Shirley at 356-4671. Or Becky Burress, local director in Dora, at [email protected].
When do things happen? The program is getting off the ground.
No catches. It’s free. It’s fun. It’s active. It’s for you and your friends, or to make new ones.
So if you or your Girl Scout-age person is tired of soap operas, phone gossip and endless episodes of Sponge Bob Square Pants, contact Shirley or Burress.
