Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
There has been more moisture in all this area.
Milnesand Reunion
The event is this Sunday. Registration is at 9 a.m. with the program at 10 a.m. and the feast at 11 a.m. Elton Parkinson and Jim Williamson are the speakers for the day, reminiscing on the past and all great memories of the area.
Causey Visitors
Tracey Davis and her youngsters, Brandon and Stacey, were here for a Father’s Day visit with her dad, Sherman Parker and Susan. Tracey works in a rest home where she lives in Virginia (I think). They left on Monday last week to make the long scenic drive back home. Sorry I missed seeing them. Tracey spent a lot of time in our home with Kristi when they were youngsters.
Commodities
I took the commodities and went south of Dora last Wednesday and made a stop at Pep and one at Highway on my way to Milnesand. Barbara Teel was gone to Lubbock so I got to meet Carrie Dillard at the store there. I left the commodities for Barbara to give out on Thursday and drove back for Portales.
Now north of Dora it looked as if “Noah” might need the Ark for the fields all the way from Dora on almost to town. No complaints — the rain sure looked good and I enjoyed the cool wet afternoon drive.
Then Thursday I drove out to Rogers and got my unforwardable mail, then went south and made three stops on that road before I got to the Garrison road. I went to the Causey Cemetery then back down west to the 206 state road and home again in showers. Now it sure looked good and the air was fresh and clean.
Pastor Home
Bro. Morgan’s family was home from vacationing in Florida and he gave the sermon in the Baptist Church in Milnesand where he is pastor.
New Name
The hill southeast of Causey where the Buffalo Soldiers so gallantly fought in 1877 has a new name. They gave their lives for the freedom we take for granted. It will now be known as Buffalo Soldier Hill to pay tribute to each of them for their great sacrifice.
