Mr. Parker A. Woodul, 92, of Portales, died Friday morning, June 4, 2004, at his home.

He was born Oct. 21, 1911, in Wellington, Texas, to Ida and Henry J. Woodul.

Mr. Woodul graduated from high school. He went on to graduate from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education in 1934. In 1941 he completed a master’s degree at Colorado State University. He belonged to the First Baptist Church. Parker served in the Army during World War II. Among the many medals he was awarded were the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was married to Bobbye Daniels on Dec. 19, 1936, in Carlsbad. During their marriage they traveled to every continent. Mr. Woodul was known for his friendly smile and his hard work for the good of the community.

Mr. Woodul was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lex and Finley Woodul; a sister, Lois Woodul; one son, William Jenkins Woodul; two daughters, Sharon Woodul and Mary Ann Woodul; and his beloved wife.

He is survived by two sons, Jack Daniels Woodul (and wife Carolyn) of Raton; and James Edward Woodul (Lida) of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Douglas Parker Woodul (Amy) of Round Rock, Texas, Jon Christopher Woodul (Kim) of Keller, Texas, Robert Conrad Woodul of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Aaron Zachariah Woodul of Houston; and three great-grandchildren, Austin Parker Woodul, Kaylie Woodul and C. J. Woodul.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Dr. Herbert Bergstrom will officiate the services, assisted by Betty Williamson.

Pallbearers are Douglas Woodul, Chris Woodul, Grady Jenkins, John Atchley, Eldin Cooper and Dewey Langston.

The members of the Portales Rotary Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary in Portales.
