Governor to visit Clovis dollar store

Gov. Bill Richardson is scheduled to be in Clovis at 9 a.m. today for a news conference marking the grand opening of a Dollar General Store.

The Clovis store, at 21st and Prince streets, is one of 11 Dollar General Stores in New Mexico. The company plans to have 30 stores open and operating in the state by January, a news release from the governor’s office said.

Company executives will also be on hand for the event, during which Dollar General CEO David Perdue will announce a “significant” donation to the Clovis Community College Adult Literacy Program, the news release said.
