Ann Carole Maurina, 67, of Grand Rapids, Mich., died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at the Holland Home Hospice Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1937, in Traverse City, Mich., to Ronald Michael and Ruby Irene Monroe Hinshaw.
She married Gary Wayne Maurina in 1965, in Grand Rapids. She was a graduate of Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, Mich. She attended journalism school at Michigan State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. She had been a homemaker in her later years and previously worked in the art department of Aquinas College, several law offices and the education department of Michigan State University. She was a member of Mayfair Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother-in-law, Richard Rinal.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Darrell Todd Maurina (and wife, Anne Boheon) of Clovis; two sisters, Ruth Himberg (William) of Naples, Fla. and Janice Rinal of Interlochen, Mich.; a brother, Thomas Hinshaw of Harbor Springs, Mich.; a nephew; two cousins; and several in-laws.
The Rev. Wilmer Witte will officiate the services.
Visitation is scheduled from 7 p.m. (EDT) until 9 p.m. Friday at Zaagman Memorial Chapel in Grand Rapids, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wildlife Rehab Center at 1504 Union N.E., Grand Rapids, Mich., 49503.
