Wright, John

John Edward Wright, 90, of Belen, Rio Communities, died July 16, 2004, following short illness.

He was born on April 20, 1914 in El Paso, Texas.

He was a member of Sierra Vista Baptist Church.

He was owner of Johnnie’s Sheet Metal and Roofing in Clovis before retiring to Belen in 1985.

Johnnie loved spending time with his sidekick, Tinker at his ranch in Torreon. He also enjoyed wood chopping and gardening.

Johnnie is preceded in death by his son, Kenny Wright, and wife Nadeane.

He is survived by son, Johnnie Wright (wife Sandy) of Amarillo; daughter-in-law Magda Garcia-Wright (Kenny) of Albuquerque; daughters, Vivian and her husband Don Pool of California, Charlotte and (Randall Newbill) of Dallas; grandchildren, Eddie and Sammie Wright, Tyler Harrington, Jeffrey Pool, Vicki Hicks, Amber Newbill and Marisol Wright; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; two brothers, Bill and Harold Medders; and two sisters, Mary McCormack and Lula Spencer.

Interment will take place at Terrace Grove Cemetery.

Donations can be be made in his name to Sierra Vista Baptist Church, P.O. Box 289, Belen, N.M., 87002.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Eddie Wright, Sammie Wright, Tyler Harrington, Jeffrey Pool; and friends, Eddie Ortega and Bud Lewis.
