Marie M. Loftus, 75, of Albuquerque, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004.

She was born on Feb. 17, 1929, in Clovis, to Ray and Ethel Miller.

She married Martin Loftus. She moved to Albuquerque in 1982. She was employed by Presbyterian Hospital as a radiology transcription and manager of medical records, retiring in 1999. She was stricken with polio in 1943 and breast cancer in 1976. Family members said she will be remembered as a generous, courageous, gentle, fun, optimistic and steadfast woman and a woman of sophisticated taste, particularly for art, antiques and fashionable shoes.

Survivors include her children, Dr. Theresa Hodin (and husband, Dr. Mark) of Buffalo, N.Y., Michael Loftus (Jeanne) of Albuquerque and Michelle Collins (Paul) of Montana; five grandchildren, Riley Hodin, Shane and Tarah Foxx and Ian and Ben Collins; two sisters, Maxine Koscielski (Carl) and Patricia Greathouse (Larry); a brother, Charles, and his family of Colorado; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. today at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, in Albuquerque.

Final disposition will be conducted privately by family.
