Texico routs Hobbs JV

TEXICO — Chris Phillips rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns as defending Class 1A state champion opened its season Thursday by whipping the Hobbs junior varsity 62-0.

Justin Garrison and Braden Vaughan added two touchdowns each for the Wolverines, who exploded for 29 points in the second quarter en route to a 44-0 halftime lead.

Vaughan capped the scoring by returning an interception 80 yards with a little less than three minutes left in the game.
