Boy, Cub Scouts offer invitations

Officials with the El Llano Grande District of the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are inviting Clovis, Portales and Cannon Air Force base first- through fifth-grade boys to join the organization, according to a news release from the local Boy Scouts organization.

Scott Kilian, the senior district executive, said he is looking forward to two September events in Clovis.

Boy Scouts can bring a friend to do the ropes course at Clovis Community College, he said. “It’s a fun event.”

Cub Scouts will also be having a “Fish-O-Rama,” where scouts will fish and have a picnic lunch with their families at Greene Acres Park.

Kilian said Cub Scouts benefit from the family emphasis of the program. “We do things together and learn together,” he said.

Boy Scouts also have the opportunity to learn survival skills, he said.

“A lot of people who something happened to on camping trips or something else have been saved by utilizing the skills they learned in boy scouting,” Kilian said.

For information on joining the scouts, call Kilian at 742-0284.
