Campos wins election race easily

With unofficial ballot totals in, Joe Campos has won his re-election bid

Campos, a Santa Rosa native, defeated Republican challenger Russell Grider of Clovis by a margin of 3,826 to 2,887. The vote totals are unofficial until each of the four counties involved — Curry, Debaca, Guadalupe and Roosevelt — canvass the votes. The Roosevelt County votes will be canvassed on Friday morning.

Roosevelt was the only county that Campos didn’t carry — Grider claimed 621 votes to Campos’ 559 — but the disparity was easily offset with decisive Campos wins in Guadalupe (996-364) and Debaca (637-343) and a slight edge in Curry County (1,634-1,559).

Attempts to reach both Campos and Grider on Wednesday were unsuccessful.
