DORA — Guard Tony Clements scored 17 points to lead three Texico boys in double figures Tuesday night as the Wolverines posted a 73-58 victory over Dora.
Seniors Garret Mayfield and Braden Vaughan also reached double figures for Texico with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
Texico (3-0) led 16-12 at the quarter and slowly increased the margin throughout the game.
The Coyotes (3-4) were led by 26 points from junior forward J.R. Gonzales and 11 from junior forward Brent Hays. Each converted a pair of 3-pointers.
The Coyotes return to action on Thursday with a 7:30 p.m. quarterfinal game against host Tularosa in the Wildcats’ seventh annual Basin Classic tournament.

Texico girls prevail — The Lady Wolverines held Dora to 24 points in three quarters and posted a 61-43 victory behind senior guard Stephanie Bailey’s 14 points.
Also in double figures for Texico were Ashley Kidd with 13 and Lauren Boazman with 11.
The Lady Coyotes (3-4) tried unsuccessfully to make a run in the final quarter behind senior D’Shawn Pettigrew, who hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 12 of her game-high 16 points in that stanza. Senior Kassandra Clark added 14 points for Dora.
