Francis “Frank” Fonteno, 80, of Clovis, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, in Clovis.
He was born in Lake Charles, La., to Cristobal and Mary Clara “Emily” Fontenot.
He married Maria Margarita Gonzalez on July 3, 1962, in San Benito, Texas. He was a member of the United States Air Force and served in World War II in Europe, in the Korean Conflict, and in the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Knights of Columbus, and Air Force Sergeants Association. He obtained fourth-degree status in the Knights of Columbus. After his discharge from the Air Force, he was involved in the rental business. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church since 1966 and served as Eucharistic minister until 1990.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James, George, and Willis Fontenot; and a sister, Margie Fontenot.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Fonteno of Clovis; a son, Daniel Fonteno of Biloxi, Miss .; a daughter, Rebecca Wood (and husband, Troy) of Tucson, Ariz .; three sisters, Irene Gallow (Willie), Betty Jean Carrier, and Anna Mae Jones; two brothers, Christopher Fontenot (Mary), and Harry Fontenot (Ruth); four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday and will be officiated by the Knights of Columbus.
Services will be officiated by Father Carlos Chavez.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Full military honors will be conducted by the Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are Alvis Jacobs, Tom Duran, Mardo Lopez, Louis Ulibarri, Troy Wood, Jack Schonberger.
Honorary pallbearers are The Knights of Columbus.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Mission in Clovis.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
