Aria “Tiny” Kennedy, 75, of Clovis, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004.
She was born on Jan. 8, 1929, in Bremont, Texas, to Mitchell and Marie Coppage. She married Albert Kennedy on Jan. 25, 1958, in Clovis. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church for more than 20 years. She retired from the Sunset Liquors package store. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She received a community service award from the Clovis Branch NAACP in 1995 and was the Mt. Zion Baptist Mission Society Woman of the Year in 1988. She was treasurer of the Senior Mission of Bethlehem Baptist Church and the vice president of the Usher Board.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Carl Edward Shaw; a brother, Mitchell Coppage Jr.; and a sister, Kathrine Robinson.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Shirley Handy of Clovis; a son, Curtis Kennedy of Anton Chico; five grandchildren, Tonya Pottard and Emma Kennedy both of Clovis, Daryl Pottard of Wichita, Kan., LaTrice Handy of Dallas and Esperanza Kennedy of Anton Chico; eight great grandchildren, including Aynee Pottard of New Orleans, Tanisha Handy of Dallas, Shaleeka Pottard of Wichita, Kan. Shaun Pottard of Clovis; four brothers, Robert Earl Coppage of Lubbock, Wilbert Wiley Jr., Edward Earl Coppage and Billy Wiley of Crosbyton, Texas; five sisters, Mabel Willis of Slaton, Texas, Odessa Lewis of Lubbock, Nellean Bradley of Clovis, Willie Lewis and Verdie Cornelius, both of Lubbock; two sisters-in-law, Freda Mae Fielder of Louisville, Ky., and Charlene Haynes of Cleveland, Ohio; three brothers-in-law, Ernest Kennedy of Cleveland, Ohio, Booker Kennedy of Detroit and Bobby Kennedy of Louisville, Ky.; and numerous relatives and friends.
The Rev. R.L. Smith will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Pallbearers are Bruce Pollard, Milton Mitchell, Johnny Washington, William Sephus, Steve Hanson and LeRoy Green.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
