ROSWELL — Senior guard Casey Ford scored a season-high 16 points Tuesday night to help the Elida Lady Tigers reach the finals of a tournament at Roswell Goddard with a 49-28 win over the Roswell High junior varsity.
The Lady Tigers will play for the championship at 1 p.m. today against the Goddard JV, which beat the Roswell High “C” team in the other semifinal matchup.
Elida (6-3) led 11-5 at the quarter and finished off the Lady Rockets with an 18-9 run in the final period. Adrienne Coe and Lindsey Smith each added nine points for the Lady Tigers, who defeated the Goddard “C” team 55-29 in a quarterfinal game on Monday.
Elida’s junior varsity is also participating in the event, and dropped a 44-43 decision to the Artesia JV after a furious rally from a 19-point deficit at the start of the quarter came up just short.
Morgan McBride, an eighth grader, scored 10 points to lead the Elida JV in the contest.
The Elida JV will be back in Roswell for an 8 a.m. seventh-place game today against the Goddard “C” team.
