DURANT, Okla. — Sophomore guard Jason Stampley hit seven 3-pointers en route to 28 points Thursday night as Southeastern Oklahoma rolled to an 84-62 Lone Star Conference men’s crossover victory over Eastern New Mexico University.
Stampley scored 20 of his points after halftime as the Savages (10-4) pulled away following a relatively close first half.
Senior forward Eric Babers added 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists for Southeastern, which extended its winning streak to five games. Steve Harrel and reserve Robert Aitken finished with 10 points apiece.
The Greyhounds (6-8) got 18 points from senior forward Jamaal Hunnicutt. Junior guard Reggie Wallace chipped in 13 points.
ENMU led only once, at 5-4 on a 3-pointer by Wallace with four minutes gone, but the Hounds stayed in striking range most of the first half. Southeastern led 21-19 with seven minutes left in the half, but opened the margin to 37-27 at the intermission.
Neither team scored when play resumed until Wallace knocked down a jumper with more than two minutes gone, but that was as close as the Hounds were able to get. Southeastern’s largest margin of the night was 26 points (80-54) with just under two minutes left.
The Savages shot 51 percent for the game (31-of-51) while limiting ENMU to 36 percent from the floor.
