CANYON, Texas — West Texas A&M jumped to a 14-1 lead and put five players in double figures Monday night in a 91-44 rout of Eastern New Mexico University in Lone Star Conference women’s basketball.
Guard Dixie Bell went 6-for-7 overall and 5-for-5 from 3-point range for 17 points, leading a barrage of 58 points from the Lady Buffaloes’ bench. Reserve post Vasha Adams added 16 points and starting post Keisha Monroe 10 for WT (12-5, 3-1 South), which got points from all 12 players.
Sophomore guard Heather Brown had 13 points for ENMU (7-9, 1-3), which trailed 50-19 at halftime and never got any closer in the second half.
The Lady Buffs had a season-high in 3-pointers, hitting 12-of-25. WT shot 34-of-54 overall (53 percent) and also established a season best with 26 assists.
ENMU, meantime, turned the ball over 22 times and shot just 24 percent from the floor on 15-of-52.
WT completed a season sweep from Eastern and leads the all-time series 45-9. It was the Lady Buffs’ largest margin of victory gainst ENMU since a 97-49 rout in January 1997.
