Henry, Raymond

Raymond J. “Mutt” Henry, 80, of Clovis, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Retirement Ranch in Clovis.

He was born on Sept. 18, 1924, in Howard County, Texas, to Arvil Clyde and Bertha Lee Key Henry. He married Melva “Jo” Burch on July 22, 1944, in Rock Lake. He worked in General Maintenance for the Curry County Courthouse for 23 years. He also was involved in farming and ranching, which family members said was his major release in life and was a carpenter for Burch Builders. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Melrose. Family members said he loved woodworking, dancing, especially square dancing, fishing, gardening, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Clifton, Archie, Marshal, Arvil and Jeff Henry; and two sisters, Ola Self and Callie Lee Wharton.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randy Henry (and wife, Vesta) of Gallup and Danny Henry (Vickie) of Grady; a daughter, Coni Jo Lyman (Tim) of Clovis; seven grandchildren, Scotte Henry of Farmington, Chade Robinson of Las Cruces, Tomi Lavender of Melrose, Dee Rae Timberlake of Walcott, Texas, Daniell Foote of Forrest, Wes Henry of Phoenix and Jason Henry of Dumas, Texas; six great-grandchildren, R.J. McTavish, Sierra Titus, D’Lynn and Wyatt Henry, Jimmy Robinson, and Teryn Foote; three sisters, Estella “Hetchie” Alexander of Malacoff, Texas, Edith Massey of Amarillo, and Gene Terry of Clovis.

The Rev. Brad Reeves will officiate the services.

Burial be at the Melrose Cemetery.

Following services the family will gather for fellowship at the First United Methodist Church in Melrose.

Pallbearers are his grandsons, Wes and Jason Henry, Kacy Robinson, Monroe Timberlake, Toby Foote, and Marty Lavender.

Honorary pallbearers are his friends and neighbors.

Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
