Keep our military in mind

Every generation has heard about the “good old days,” but I remember a time when our lives were governed by The Ten Commandments, good judgment and common sense. We were taught the difference between right and wrong and to take responsibilities for our actions. Until we come to grips with the reality of our situation, freedom as we know it will slip away.

In a world of bio-chemical and nuclear threats, there is no security apart from God. Without God’s Word, people are tossed to and fro in confusion, not knowing what to do or what to believe. Stability and peace comes only from knowing what our founding fathers knew, “the real source of life,” their love and respect for God’s Word displayed the secret of their greatness.

Dictators have tried to destroy God’s Word. Communism has tried to annihilate it. Opponents have tried to discount it, yet the Bible still remains. It will never pass away. “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35).

The Bible provides the standard of behavior. Any deviation from its principles results in chaos. Imagine a world with no absolutes, just “doing one’s own thing.” (We have plenty of that.) A society who “does what is right in his or her own eyes,” has no peace or security. (Judges 17:6)

Our soldiers are fighting for this principle. They are fighting for our way of life … the God-given right to be free.

Our armed services are giving their all for freedom. That freedom includes among many other things, the freedom to vote, to attend a church of choice, chose a vocation, and the ability to pursue the “American” dream.

A grave time in history has come upon us. A battle rages for freedom and our way of life. Now, as never before, we must unite. “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand” (Matthew 12:25).

This is a time to think about America’s future. I wonder how many of us realize our existence is at stake. It is time for everyone concerned to pray for the president, others in leadership and military personnel. They carry a terrific responsibility upon their shoulders for the survival of this nation. Pray for the families of the military who are left behind. Pray for each family’s safety and protection.

Controversy destroys confidence and defeats success. Criticizing and complaining brings discouragement to those giving their lives to preserve our liberty. When our military hears criticism and debate about the war I think that just has to bring sorrow into their hearts. There they are putting their lives on the line for our way of life. Do we take that for granted?

Our young men and women are giving their lives to protect you and me. Think of those families who are telling their sons, daughters husbands and fathers “Good-bye.” Some may never be seen again. Knowing this, what can you and I do to help and support these brave men and women?

Let our voices be heard. Let us say, “Military we honor you. We appreciate the great sacrifice you are making for us. Thank you for interrupting your lives to preserve freedom. We are grateful for your service to our country.”

Support this country with your prayers, encouragement, patriotism and undaunted united loyalty.

Sometimes I ask myself, “Am I the only one who sees the impinging danger for this country?”

We live in the greatest land on planet earth. We have been blessed with “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” The enemies of America want to take that away. By the way, so does the spiritual enemy.
