Lucille O’Hara

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Portales Cemetery.

Mrs. Lucille O’Hara, 92, of Las Cruces, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at Cottonbloom Assisted Living Center in Las Cruces.

She was born on May 13, 1912, in Bellville, Mo., to Rose Mae and George W. Davison.

She married Sam McCaskell in the late 1930’s. They made their home in Oklahoma. Mr. McCaskell was missing in action during World War II. She relocated to Chicago and while there married Terry O’Hara. He preceded her in death in the late 1950’s. She then moved to Albuquerque where she was employed as a secretary at the University of New Mexico. In the late 1960’s she moved to Portales and was employed as a secretary at Health Services at Eastern New Mexico University. In the early 1980’s she moved to Belen where she remained until she moved to Las Cruces about 10 years ago. She was a member of the Methodist Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Family members said she enjoyed gardening and was known for her beautiful roses.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George and Dwight Davison; two sisters, Dorothy Hubbard and Esther Wackerly; and by both of her husbands, Sam McCaskell and Terry O’Hara.

Survivors include a sister, Margaret “Peg” Linton of Chicago; a number of nieces and nephews, including Lee and Margaret Hubbard, Marvin Dale and Karen Hubbard, Allen Dale Hubbard, James Kirk Linton, Linda Davison, Tory Linton, Amber Lanahann, Dana Lanahann and Michel Hubbard.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

The Rev. Dick Ross will officiate the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home or the New Mexico Boys Ranch.
