Gladys Stella Northcutt Polk, 97, of Clovis, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at her home.

She was born May 20, 1907, in Hermleigh, Texas, to John Henry and Lola Wesley Northcutt.

She came to this area in a covered wagon and her family homesteaded in the Bellview area. She was a homemaker and mother and sold Stanley Products and Avon. Family members said she was an accomplished seamstress and gardener.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack Polk, a son, Don Rierson, 10 brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Rierson (and wife, Catherine) of Clovis and John Rector (Barbara) of Fresno, Calif.; five daughters, Doris Smith (Jim) of Clovis, Sarah Lizalde (Flavio) of Phoenix, Barbara Burch (Cecil) of Melrose, Thelma Romans (Jack) of Lubbock and Mary (Rick) Ingleman of Indianapolis; 19 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a brother, Bobby Northcutt (Chizuko) of Lubbock.

The Rev. Danny Sanders will officiate the service.

Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are Mark Rierson, Richard Rierson, Brian Echols, Vernon Burch, Michael Merritt, Wes Mote, Carol Kienle and Leah Echols.

Honorary Pallbearers will be all grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Mission.

Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
