Mrs. Odetta Smith, 89, of Auburn, Calif., died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Hill Top Manor Rest Home in Auburn, Calif.

She was born on May 29, 1915, in Bristow, Okla., to John and Carrie Taylor.

She married Homer Smith on Aug. 20, 1932, in Portales. Family members said she loved to cook, can, and garden. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her father; her mother, Carrie Cleveland; her step-father, Grover Cleveland; a daughter, Lola Saganario; (two grandsons, Randy and Terry May; a granddaughter, Amy Smith; a sister, Lafern Hagan; and a brother, Raymond Cleveland.

Survivors include two daughters, Doris McCullough (and husband, Bobby) of Sacramento, Calif. and Linda Rackley of Orland, Calif.; four sons, Wayne Smith of Tyler, Texas, Jerry Smith of Arizona, Coy Smith (Linda) of Orland, Calif., and Kenny Smith (Melba) of Marlon, Texas; three sisters, Vivian Smith of Riverside, Calif., Ruth McDaniel (Alfred) of Los Lunas, and Louella Seale of Clovis; two brothers, Eugene Cleveland (Arlene) of Carthage, Texas, and James Cleveland (Lynn) of Clovis; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis.

Frank Phillips will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
