Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
At approximately 9 p.m. Saturday, police were called to Eighth and Sheldon streets in response to a report of gunfire and met with the callers at Sonic Drive-in on Seventh Street. The men said they were driving south on Sheldon and stopped at an intersection when a car pulled in front of them, a passenger stepped out and began firing a gun at their vehicle. Officers discovered bullet holes in the vehicle’s bumper and a hole in the dashboard, a shattered window and damage to the rear-view mirror. A bullet was recovered from the dashboard and photos were taken. The men were asked to go to the police station and give statements. The case was turned over to a detective for investigation.

Around 4 a.m. Sunday, an officer responded to the Plains Regional Medical Center emergency room in reference to a stabbing victim. The man told the officer he had been drinking and fell off stairs, hitting his head. The officer observed several lacerations on the man’s head that looked consistent with stab wounds. The man, when asked again, said he had been drinking with friends but would not identify them and did not want to make a report. The officer considered him to be uncooperative and turned the case over to detectives for further investigation.

At approximately 8 a.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to a home in the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard in response to a call about an unconscious, unresponsive 56-year-old woman. Upon arrival, officers found family members waiting. Rescue personnel on the scene informed the officers that the woman was deceased. An officer examined the scene and found no indications of violence or disruption. Detectives and personnel from the Office of the Medical Investigator took over the case.
