Girls

* Clovis Christian rode 23 points from freshman Jocelyn Swann and 18 from sophomore Jennifer Schaap to a 47-40 victory over Logan at the CCS gym, advancing to today's 3 p.m. District 4-1A championship game at top-seeded Grady.

The Lady Eagles (18-9) led most of the way, but watched Logan pull to 42-40 late before closing it out at the free throw line. CCS coach Max Kralicek said his team has become reasonably good in those situations.

“That’s something that we’ve developed lately, the ability to play when the game is close,” he said.

Swann had three 3-pointers. She, Schaap and guard Sidnee Pool — who had a pair of 3-pointers — accounted for all of the Lady Eagles’ points.

With the win, CCS is guaranteed a spot in the round of 16 next week, while the Lady Longhorns saw their season come to an end.

Senior guard Brittany Cox scored 12 points for Logan.

Boys

* Second-seeded Elida held off a late run by Fort Sumner for a 49-47 victory over the Foxes in a District 3-1A semifinal game at Elida.

Senior Caleb Widener scored 13 points for the Tigers (23-4), who play at top-seeded Dora on Saturday night for the tourney championship.

Both of those teams advance to the 1A state round of 16 next week.

Fort Sumner (11-14), which upended Elida 67-66 a couple of weeks ago after losing by 43 points in the first meeting, cut a 45-35 deficit with four minutes left to 48-47 on Ryan Hall’s layup with 10 seconds left.

Wesley Gilmore then added a free throw for the Tigers with four seconds to go. Fort Sumner was unable to get off a final shot.

Sophomore Berry Stinnett led the Foxes with 15 points, while freshman Rawley Stallard scored 14.

* At San Jon, the second-seeded Coyotes pulled away in the final period to eliminate Clovis Christian 56-44 and advance to today’s 6 p.m. District 4-1A tournament championship game at top-seeded Logan.

Senior guard Danny Shetter scored 22 points for San Jon (19-11), which outscored the Eagles 18-8 in the final period to break open a two-point game.

Senior Will Genitski had three 3-pointers and 22 points for CCS (16-16).
