Police make drug bust

Portales police arrested three city residents Tuesday in drug raids that netted marijuana and cocaine in an ongoing narcotics investigations, according to a Portales Police Department press release.

Joe E. Aragon, 27, of Portales, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within a school zone and trafficking cocaine in a school zone. Police found one pound of marijuana in a residence at 310 S. Abilene and 6.4 pounds of marijuana inside Aragon’s vehicle, according to the press release.

Ignacia Cuevas, 37, of Portales on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia while police were serving a warrant at 820 N. Ave. I, the release said.

Police arrested Diana Ornelas, 48, of Portales, after serving a warrant at 321 S. Ave. I. She was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute after officers found 6.1 grams of cocaine.

Cuevas is out on a $4,500 bond, jail officials said.

Ornelas and Aragon are being held at the Roosevelt County Detention Center on $50,000 and $150,000 bonds, respectively.
