TeamBuilders slated to get new building

A $1 million, 12,200-square-foot office building will be constructed in northwest Clovis for TeamBuilders Counseling Services, according to an organization official and city documents.

Ground will be broken March 20 at the new location at 210 Townsgate Plaza.

About 45 employees now working in three offices in Clovis will relocate to the new building with the anticipated movie-in date Dec. 1, according to Clovis operations director Tony Bustos.

RCH Inc. of Albuquerque is the contractor for the single-story structure, which will be consistent with New Mexican architectural style, Bustos said.

Plainview Properties of Kerrville, Texas, is the property owner.

TeamBuilders is a nonprofit behavioral health organization founded in 1995 that has served Clovis and Portales since 1996.

Pair of silage info meetings scheduled

High Plains farmers can update their knowledge of silage production and feeding at two workshops sponsored by Texas Cooperative Extension, New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service, and the Texas Alliance for Water Conservation, according to a news release.

Topics to be covered include corn, forage sorghum and small grains silage management; feeding value and nutrition; silage and dairy farming; irrigation efficiency; and keys to quality ensiling, the release reads.

Workshop dates and locations:

• March 21 at the Hale County Annex/Justice Building, 225 Broadway, Plainview, Texas. The program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (CDT). Registration is $20 per person and includes lunch and workshop materials. Participants qualify for three continuing education units.

A free program on alfalfa will follow the silage workshop, according to the release.

• March 22 at the Curry County Extension office at 818 North Main St., Clovis.

The program, including lunch, will run from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no registration fee. Participants qualify for three continuing education units.

Appraiser awarded MAI membership

Douglas S. Defoor of Clovis has been awarded the MAI membership designation of the Appraisal Institute, according to an institute news release.

Defoor is assistant vice president-senior real estate appraiser with Farm Credit of New Mexico.

Defoor has been appraising since 2000 and has been with Farm Credit since 1997. He also is vice president of the Rio Grande Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.

The MAI membership designation is held by appraisers experienced in the valuation and evaluation of commercial, industrial, residential and other types of properties and who advise clients on real estate investments, according to the Appraisal Institute’s Web site.

It is earned after passing an exam and attaining 3,000 hours of qualifying experience, according to the release.
