Firefighters respond to fire at local business

Portales Fire Department personnel responded to a fire at 8:22 p.m. on Wednesday night at S.O.S. Outlet Store, located at 113 North Avenue I.

According to the report, the fire started in a small room located inside the building.

Upon investigation, firefighters found a melted five gallon bucket that was partially filled with ashes, according to the report. The bucket was located near a chair with a cushion. Firefighters were on scene for a little over an hour, extinguishing the fire and cleaning up the scene. Four units and seven personnel responded to the fire.

No one was in the building at the time of the fire and there has been no report of estimated damages to the building.
