Cool temperatures, wind and snow swept across the area Friday.
Strong winds whipped through the eastern Plains during the afternoon, gusting to 38 mph in Clovis in the early evening. Temperatures hovering in the upper 30s and low 40s dropped to freezing in the late afternoon, when snow flurries fell.
The last time the area received snow on April 13 was a decade ago, when 1.3 inches fell, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures that day reached 41 degrees and dipped down to 21 degrees, according to the weather service.
Light fog was a possibility this morning, with clearing skies this afternoon and a high near 60 expected. Temperatures tonight are predicted to fall into the mid-30s.
