The New Mexico Human Services Department is partnering with the local school to enroll children in a health care coverage plan that is either no-cost or low-cost to New Mexico parents. Health care enrollments are scheduled for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday.
“With the expansion of New Mexikids and the Premium Assistance for Kids (PAK) program, there is no reason a child in New Mexico up to age 12 should be without health care coverage,” HSD Secretary Pamela Hyde said. “There is a plan for every child and depending on the income of the family, the cost is either low or no cost at all.”
To enroll a child for health care, parents should bring:
• Proof of child’s identity and citizenship
• Child’s Social Security number
• Child’s original birth certificate
• Proof of family’s past four weeks of income
• Proof of other health insurance
Children in families with incomes up to 235 percent of the Federal Poverty Level will likely qualify for a New Mexikids program. Children in families above that level will qualify for PAK.
