Lady Ram softball and Ram baseball seeded in state tournament

The District 4-3A champion Lady Ram softball team (17-8, 12-0 district) is seeded No. 5 in the New Mexico Class 3A state softball tournament in Farmington this weekend. The Portales girls depart Wednesday, before facing 12th-seeded Fort Wingate Thursday at 2 p.m. The winner of the first round game faces 4th-seeded Las Vegas-Robertson Friday morning.

The District 4-3A champion Portales Rams (17-8, 12-4 district) are seeded 5th in the New Mexico Class 3A state baseball playoffs and host 12th-seeded Tohatchi Friday or Saturday at Ram Field in the first round. The winner will face 4th-seeded Bloomfield in the state quarterfinals. The dates and times of both games have yet to be determined by the New Mexico Activities Association.
