Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
In the first chapter of Genesis we read about the beginning, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
In Exodus 34:28, God gave Moses the Ten Commandments. These commandments have been the basis of civilizations.
Nebuchadnezzar did not believe in God until he saw the fourth man in the fiery furnace. Many today do not believe until they face a life or death experience.
God has put the stars in place and they move with exact precision.
If our planet Earth were just 10 percent smaller, there would be no life.
If our planet were just a few degrees closer to the sun, we would burn up. If our planet were further away from the sun, we would freeze.
Our axis is exactly tilted so that there is equal distribution of the sun. This makes the food chain possible.
All of this is an accident?
Those who believe in the Big Bang theory must also answer, who or what caused the Big Bang?
Fish fossils have been found on top of mountains. Remember Noah’s Ark came to rest on Mount Ararat?
Hezekiah made a tunnel that can still be seen today in modern Jerusalem. In ancient days Jerusalem had no source of water within its walls. This made the people very vulnerable to an enemy’s prolonged attack. Hezekiah performed a tremendous engineering feat by making a tunnel that brought water from a spring to a reservoir inside Jerusalem. You can read about this in 2 Chronicles 32.
Despite the physical evidence some still have doubts, yet in the human heart, there is a vacuum that only God can fill. Ask someone who has been healed. Ask someone who has known the “peace that passes all understanding.” Ask someone who sought God and all addictions left. Ask any of these if they believe.
Jim Elliot, a missionary who lost his life in the jungle in his young adulthood, had the fervor, loyalty and strong faith to say, “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” I’m with him.
This I believe and it’s my profession of faith: “God is bigger than any mountain and bigger than any circumstance. He is the core of our being. Every thought word and deed is subject to him.
May we resist the temptation to rehearse calamity. Let us be settled in our hearts that God is God. He doesn’t sleep or slumber. He watches over his Word to perform it. May we stand strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Be determined and be moved by the promises of God, that he is faithful and true.
God is the strength of your life and that strength gives joy and a merry heart which is health to your bones. Want to belong to him. Be not double minded but strain to grow strong in faith giving glory to God, “being fully assured that what he has promised he is able to perform.” (Romans 4:21)
Therefore let us keep our eyes on Jesus. Praise him in every thought. Tell others of his enduring love with every breath. Share that love and bless others. This life is short at best. Let us take stock of our lives.
Know you are a unique child of God and his love for you is greater than any love known by man. If you doubt that love for you just remember the great sacrifice he gave for all of us, ‘his only begotten Son.’
