Eastern New Mexico University has hired Judith Haislett as the new vice president for student affairs. She succeeds Gary Musgrave, who retires Sept. 30.
Haislett, who has been the vice president for student affairs at Black Hills State University in South Dakota since 1994, is expected to start at ENMU in mid-August.
“We are very happy that Dr. Haislett has accepted our offer,” ENMU President Steven Gamble said. “We know that she will make a strong area of our university even stronger. She has an extensive, proven background in working in student affairs, and will be a great asset to our students and staff.”
Haislett received a Ph.D. in counselor education from the University of Virginia, and a master’s in student personnel administration and college counseling and bachelor’s in Spanish and modern languages from the University of Delaware.
Haislett has also worked at Clemson University in South Carolina, Wake Forest University in North Carolina and Rider University in New Jersey.
“I am very excited about coming to Eastern New Mexico University,” Haislett said. “The students I met were very warm, welcoming and enjoyable to be around. They showed a strong sense of purpose, and it will be an honor to work with them. Eastern is a top-notch university. I couldn’t be more pleased to have the opportunity to work at such an excellent institution.”
Gamble also expressed his appreciation to Musgrave.
“We were very fortunate to have Dr. Musgrave directing Student Affairs since 1999,” Gamble said. “Under his leadership, Eastern has had a very dynamic and progressive student life. We wish him a very enjoyable retirement.”
