Statement released Wednesday by Air Force Special Operations Command regarding the Jan. 18 Government Accountability Office report on Cannon Air Force Base:
Air Force Special Operations Command worked closely with the General Accounting Office, throughout the audit process, to provide information regarding the transfer of people and equipment to Cannon Air Force Base, N.M.
The numbers of Airmen and aircraft moving to Cannon have always been contingent upon maintaining the force structure flexibility required to fight the ongoing global war on terrorism, as well as on receiving the funding for the acquisition of additional AFSOC aircraft and equipment.
The Airmen supporting these aircraft will follow as the aircraft are delivered to Cannon. AFSOC will continue to push for funding of these aircraft as well as recruit for those career fields unique to special operations.
