Police investigate home invasion

The Portales Police Department is searching for a suspect in a home invasion Sunday that left one Portales resident injured.

The crime was reported between 12:30 and 1 a.m. Sunday morning, at a residence in the 1600 block of South Main Street, said Capt. Lonnie Berry of the Portales Police department.

The suspect did not use a weapon, but one resident was injured during the crime and property was taken from the residence, Berry said.

“The injured resident was transported to the Roosevelt General Hospital and was later transported to Lubbock for further treatment,” Berry said.

Berry would not elaborate on details of the crime or give a description of the suspect, saying police are continuing their investigation.
