ODESSA, TEXAS — Two Eastern New Mexico University cowboys and a cowgirl made their mark over the weekend in the Odessa Rodeo.
Senior Greyhound Jared Green registered a third place finish in bareback riding with 138 points, moving into second place in the region in the bareback riding event.
“Jared continued to be real consistent,” ENMU rodeo coach David Browder said.
Junior Portales native Grady Goodson took fifth place in the men’s team tie-down roping with an average time of 24.5 seconds. Goodson grabbed his first points of the season in the event.
“Grady ended up fifth out of 90-some ropers,” Browder continued. “I’m real proud of him. He’s worked real hard and hasn’t scored any points so far, but he got on the board in Odessa.”
Zia senior Raelyn Gardner also fared well, earning a fifth place finish in goat tying with an average time of 15.1 seconds.
“She’s a threat in the breakaway roping, the goat-tying and the barrel racing,” Browder said. “She’s just one of those girls that you can almost count on to get points in every rodeo, so it’s a no-brainer to have her on the team.
ENMU travels to Snyder, Texas this weekend for the Western Texas College Rodeo.
