Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday an officer responded to a school in the 500 block of 14th Street for a student with a knife.

The principal said a student turned a knife into a teacher that another student had put in his pocket.

The boy said another child had shown him the knife in class and he later found it in the pocket of his sweatshirt.

The boy who reportedly had the knife first denied bringing it to school.

The knife was confiscated.

About 9:30 a.m. Friday an officer on duty at a school in the 1500 block of Sycamore Street responded to the office for a battery report.

A student said he was punched in the face by another student.

The boy said he was trying to get into the bathroom and another student wouldn’t let him past him so he pushed him slightly.

He said the other boy punched him in the face.

The officer documented a red mark on his face.

Around 11 a.m. Friday on officer responded to a business in the 2000 block of Mabry Drive for a fraud report.

A manager said he had received two worthless checks for a payment on a vehicle. The man said the checks, which totaled more than $1,100, were written on a closed account. He said he notified the woman who wrote them in February and she said she would come in to pay but never did.

Around 6 p.m. Friday an officer responded to a criminal damage report at a business in the 900 block of Grand Avenue.

A man showed the officer a hole he said a young boy cut in the business’s fence. He said they didn’t want to press charges.

The officer told the boy’s mother to keep him off the property at the business’s request.
