Four-way stop planned

The city of Portales will place a four-way stop at the intersection of 17th Street and Avenue D on Monday.

The four-way stop is needed because this intersection is a detour because of construction at the intersection of 18th Street and Avenue D, according to city officials.

Trek for Trash begins Saturday

The Trek for Trash annual highway cleanup starts Saturday and continues through Oct. 25.

Any organization that has a mile is encouraged to pick up trash on any Saturday during this time.

Trash bags can be picked up at City Hall. Full trash bags can be dropped off from noon to 5 p.m. at the Convenience Center at 1230 N. Avon Ave.

Organizations that do not have a mile can call Nicole Wilkening at 356-6662 ext. 24 or Dianne Parker at 356-7000.
