Floyd schools plan homecoming

Floyd schools will celebrate homecoming this weekend, starting with a bonfire at 7 p.m. Friday at Jim and Judy Chandler’s home. The homecoming coronation will be held at noon Saturday, followed at 1 p.m. by the varsity Broncos football game against Springer.

Also on Saturday, the Lady Broncos host Fort Sumner for volleyball starting at 4:30 p.m.

Disaster response organization accepting donations

The Seventh-day Adventist Disaster Response organization has been assisting hurricane victims.

ACS DR currently is providing clothes, blankets, personal care items and cleaning supplies in response to Hurricane Ike.

Donations in the form of cash, checks, money orders or gift cards, as well as supplies will be accepted from 2-7 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Portales Seventh-day Adventist Church, 112 N. Ave. F.

Items needed include: New or gently used jeans, T-shirts or polo shirts, new socks and underwear, children’s clothing, personal care items, baby items.
