Food bank to distribute commodities
The Life Saver Food Bank will be distributing commodities from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday at the Memorial Building.
To receive commodities, individuals must be residents of Portales, not receive assistance from other organizations and meet income guidelines.

Tickets available for Pops Dinner Concert
The 2008 Pops Dinner Concert will be held Nov. 15 at Eastern New Mexico University.
The concert features the University Wind Symphony and the Swanee Singers.
Tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance, by mail. Make check or money order payable to University Friends of Music and mail to: POPS Concert, P.O. Box 314, Clovis, NM 88101. Orders must be received by Nov. 11.

Driver safety class cancelled
The AARP Driver Safety Program Class scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at Community Services Center in Portales has been canceled due to family health reasons. For clarification call George Lees at 742-2271.
Kids’ fishing clinic scheduled
The annual kids fishing clinic will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 1 at Oasis State Park.
The clinic is open to children ages 6-17 with a parent or other adult. Admission is one or two cans of food, which will be donated to the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico.
Children ages 12 and older must have a New Mexico fishing license. Participants should bring fishing gear and tackle if possible, and dress appropriately for the weather.
Pre-registration is required by calling 356-5331. Provide the child’s name, age, adult’s name and phone number.
