Two sought for questioning in connection with homicide

Police are looking for two persons of interest regarding the Saturday homicide of 54-year-old Elizabeth McAdams in her home on Lea Street, according to a Clovis Police Department press release.

Police said Jerry Casiano, 27, and Veronica Galvan, 32, may have information about the homicide. Police do not believe they killed the victim.

McAdams’ throat was slashed, according to police.

Clovis Police Capt. Patrick Whitney said police have identified a suspect they believe is responsible for the city’s third homicide in 2008 but do not have enough information yet to make an arrest.

According to the press release:

• Casiano is a Hispanic male with brown eyes and black hair, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighs 140 pounds.

• Galvan is a Hispanic female with brown eyes and black hair, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weights 150 pounds.

• The two are believed to be in a white two-door Mercury Cougar bearing the New Mexico license plate JWM 107.

They have outstanding warrants unrelated to the homicide.

Firefighters responding to a fire at 1600 N. Lea St. found McAdams’ body about 7:15 a.m. Saturday in a back bedroom, according to police. Police said her throat had been slashed and someone set several fires in her home in an attempt to cover up the evidence.

Police said they don’t believe McAdams’ slaying was random and she “may have known the murder suspect.”
