ENMU regents OK revise for technology building proposal

Eastern New Mexico University Regents have approved revised language in a previously passed proposal for a $9 million renovation to the university’s Technology Building.

Regent Marshall Stinnett was at the regular meeting Tuesday in person, while Regents Pauline Ponce and Chad Lydick were on the phone to constitute a quorum to vote on the issue.

The New Mexico Higher Education Department had requested a change in language for the capital project proposal.

The Technology Building project is slated to begin in late summer 2010.

“Some of it will be renovated; some of it will be torn down. It’s a 50-year-old building, and we want to meet the needs of the departments that will be in there for the next 25 or 30 years,” said Scott Smart, vice president of business affairs.
