Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The Biblical scholar can’t help but know how this country has come to the state it’s in. All through the Old Testament, people who turned their backs on God found themselves surrounded and overcome with enemies.
The Ten Commandments have been taken down. Prayer has been removed from the public. The Bible has been forsaken. Abortion has taken away the younger generation who would be paying for Social Security.
Now I hear hints of euthanasia. With a pain pill and counseling, Medicare money will be saved for some other pork or corporate greed. The members of the older population have given their all with hard work, (many in the military). Godly people only want to enjoy retirement with wisdom for the young and love for America’s freedom.
The lack of godliness today results in chaos. Without God, every evil imaginable raises its ugly head. Society seems to be lowering the bar just a little more each day. I believe without righteousness, there is no hope.
An absence of morality brings the demise of a nation, because its citizenry has reached a point where sin is rationalized away but sin is never acceptable as the normal way to live.
Those taking a stand for godliness are criticized as being “intolerant.”
I can see only two options: One is to ignore God’s way and lose a country that has been blessed with freedom. The other one is to return to God and follow him wholeheartedly, which is mankind’s only hope.
I weep for America. I have known its freedom. So where are we headed as a nation? And how much time do we have? Time is of the essence. It is of utmost importance. Time is fleeting and cannot be reclaimed. To wake up one day and discover that a point of no return has been reached is to have a heartbreaking realization that we ignored the time we had to make a difference.
We are solemnly warned in Jeremiah 18:7-10: “There may come a time when I will speak about a nation or a kingdom that I will pull up by its roots or that I will pull down to destroy it. But if the people of that nation stop doing the evil they have done, I will change my mind and not carry out my plans to bring disaster to them. There may come another time when I will speak about a nation that I will build up and plant. But if I see it doing evil by not obeying me, I will change my mind and not carry out my plans to do good for them.” (NCV)
Each one of us has a certain time of life. Now is the time to realize the value of it. Today is the day to repent, to be a witness and most of all, to pray for our nation.
Please take time to reflect on where our beloved nation is headed. Remember, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people” (Proverbs 14:34, NIV).
Make a difference for America today.
Take a stand for righteousness.
