Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Group serves up cheese, wine, beer at downtown fundraiser

Clovis Main Street wants area residents to be comfortable while helping the organization raise money.

Main Street Director Robyne Beaubien said those attending Saturday’s annual beer, wine and cheese Downtown Gala run the gamut — from those who stay and sit all night and those who come and go.

“It’s a great location and just a very comfortable evening,” she said.

The event is Clovis Main Street’s main fundraiser and proceeds help with operational expenses, Beaubien said.

Main Street’s goal is economic development and historic preservation of downtown Main Street.

Beaubien said organizers decided to hold a wine, cheese and beer event because there was no event like it at the time.

The event coincides with Clovis Community College Cultural Arts Series performance by the Lula Washington Dance Theater.

“We want people to come, hang out, go to the performance and come back for the after-party,” Beaubien said.

She said dancers from the show will be attending the gala after the performance.

Clovis Main Street is planning phase two of its gateway project, including adding solar lighting and replacing plants on entryways to Clovis. The organization also organizes the annual Christmas Light Parade.

Tickets are $25 a person.
