Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
This year’s little miss merry christmas contest has a record number of contestants with 20 young ladies vying for the crown.
Competitors must be between 4 and 10 years old.
The winner is determined by the most money raised through donations, bake sales, silent auctions and whatever the youngsters can come up with as a fundraiser. Each contestant has a sponsor that allows the fundraisers to take place in his or her businesses.
Proceeds from the contest are used to add Christmas lights to business rooftops throughout town. This year, the Chamber of Commerce is working with Roosevelt County to place light displays synchronized to music on the south side of the county courthouse.
Viewers will be able to listen to the music either through speakers on the courthouse lawn or by tuning into an FM station on the radio. Hopefully, the lights will be hung and the music programmed before the Christmas activities on Dec. 11.
The little miss merry christmas contestants will ride in the Christmas Lights Parade, dismount at the courthouse and be introduced on the stage. The winner will be announced at that time.
