Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Cold weather didn’t dim the lights or stop the crowd at the Live on the Square Portales Christmas celebration Friday night.
The night included live music, living window displays, downtown businesses open late, and, of course, the Christmas Jubilee Lights Parade and crowning of the new little miss merry christmas.
“I was pleased with everything,” said Sharon King, Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce executive director.
She was excited about the new Roosevelt County Courthouse light display, which was finished Friday afternoon, and the $6,655 the little miss merry christmas contest raised for Christmas lights and decorations in Portales.
Mckinzie Davis, 7, raised $1,665, the highest individual amount among the 20 competitors, to become this year’s little miss merry christmas.
“I feel really happy,” she said.
In the parade, Heartland Continuing Care won the business category, First Presbyterian Church topped the church category and Blair’s Affair balloon team took the non-profit category.
