Two jailed on drug charges

PNT staff reports

Two Roosevelt County residents are jailed on charges stemming from a recent search warrant.

Virginia Jones, 29, was arrested Friday at a residence in the 100 block of South Avenue G on charges of distribution of marijuana and possession of a schedule II narcotic, both fourth-degree felonies, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, according to a news release from the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office.

Jones was being held at the Roosevelt County Detention Center in lieu of a $50,000 cash-only bond.

Later, police monitored a call Jones made from the detention center and heard Jack Ruiz, 54, had drug paraphernalia, according to the release. When officers searched Ruiz’s residence, they found drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine, police said.

Ruiz is being held at the detention center without bond, accused of violating conditions of his parole. Police said they are seeking felony warrants against him for possession of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine.
